Good News! User Account Control Will Be Toned Down In Windows 7

Vista’s User Account Control isn’t as annoying as it first was when Windows Vista was launched because software developers have found ways to get their programs onto machines without UAC trying to put the fear of God into users. However, UAC still does pop up far too many times for many users liking.
Microsoft are taking this on board and are working on making Windows 7’s UAC less intrusive. The number of notifications will be reduced and users will (finally) be able to control the number of notifications that they receive – much better than the current on or off approach in Vista.
Another major change is the rewriting of the prompts that come up with UAC. Let’s face it, most of us never read the messages and just automatically click on ‘continue’ because the messages are usually gobbledygook. With more user friendly messages in Windows 7 that actually mean something, users will no longer automatically dismiss UAC prompts that are put in place to ‘protect them’.
