Paul Thurrott started the day by posting new screenshots of Windows 7 that Microsoft provided to anyone attending the PDC08 conference in Los Angeles. The screenshots are from a different build than the one getting distributed by Microsoft on the PDC08. Paul managed to post a batch of his own screenshots as well. We managed to get our hands on all of them and decided to split the screenshots into different posts to avoid one huge post that would take ages to load completely. We start with the official Microsoft Windows 7 Milestone 3 screenshots.

Congratulations, it looks more like Vista's...I mean...Mac's OS than ever. This is really a let down, I was expecting something big. Instead it looks like Vista and steals from OS X. I want something that is revolutionary like Mac, not something that looks more like OS X. I know you can do it Microsoft.

nice new calculator...for the rest: same crap!
  • Andy
Explain to me how OSX is 'revolutionary.' It's different, but not a computing or design 'revolution.' That being said, yes, 7 does use transparancy. That doesn't make it a clone.

I really like how 7 is shaping up. It looks like it is going to be a nice blend of ease and elegance. Explorer looks more utilitarian than ever.

Windows 7 is shaping out to be a great os it seems like. Keep up the good work MS!! (and would u mac users stop saying that they stole it from osx!!!)
  • Always os
    @ phil,

And why we must stop with saying that when it is true ? You can see. It's always the same shit. Always they try to make it like OSX. and maby they will get the same in visual aspect buth Apple is working for Snow Leopard and they say it will be the best working and stable OS ever made.

I'am a reseller of Apple and i can tell you. When this will hold on Apple wil grow fast and become the marketleader. Mark my words...

If someone (Apple or whoever) have make something that is new and perhaps revolutionary and it is a good feature and many users like them, then it's normal that MS will make their own version. It is not stealing.

For me personally, all what I have see just makes me hunger for more. ;)
  • @Always OS:
Oh yes, ill remember when Apple finally rule the day, that you said that!

Now all you stupid fan boys get over companies stealing "ideas". Its 100% needed for companies to collaborate and use similar techniques to use an interface. Humans like consistency.

And if there good ideas/concepts, why not use them? Should we have our OSs as black or white choices? (I meant in contrast, not people).
Compiz-Fusion, the greatest looking interface to have graced our hands as of yet, I would love to be in ALL OSs, I wouldn’t blame a company for "stealing" it. If it’s good, id like ALL OSs to have them! The REAL difference of an OS is the development platform, and user friendliness. So us HUMANS get the best apps and can use them to the max! It’s not about what companies greater.
Now get over your stupid petty arguments! Work together and make a better future for everyone!!!! (PS: Opensource FTW :) )
