Shortcut To Create New Folders In Windows 7

Tip: Click here to run a free scan for common PC errors

The usual way of creating a new folder in previous Windows operating systems was to right-click on a blank space in the window or computer desktop and select the new folder option. There was no keyboard shortcut available that could be quickly pressed to create that new folder.

This has apparently changed in Windows 7 as it is now possible to create new folders with the keyboard shortcut [CTRL Shift N]. All you need to do is press this keyboard shortcut whenever you want to create a new folder. The only thing left to do is to type in the name of the folder if you want to change it and hit enter to save the changes.

thanks Samir

I would prefer the old system. One now has to remember to use

    CTRL, SHIFT, N

Much easier to right click, point to 'New Folder' and click.
Why did they take this option away?

totally agree with Lorda.. if you're on the desktop or navigating folders (i.e. where you're most likely to make a new folder) then your right hand is probably already on the mouse.. so right click + w + f is WAY faster than stretching ur fingers to reach letter N (i have long fingers and it is still a stretch)

just to correct myself, the combo is:
    right click + w + f
    :)))

Thanks that really helps. I always thought about creating new folders using keyboard shortcuts.

useless!!!, it takes less time, if u make it with right click + w + n, in this way u dont have to release the mouse in order to press the three buttons...which saves u time ;)
