Windows 7 RTM Schedule?

Is this the road to RTM? Wzor has posted details about what could possibly be the RTM schedule. Although Microsoft is keeping a tight lid so far on what that exact schedule might be. Have a look. As reported from neowin.net.

  • FINAL ROADMAP FOR WINDOWS 7 [CLIENT-SERVER]:
  • 6/1 – 6/19 BUILDING RTM ESCROW – already assembled RTM ESCROW.
  • 6/22 – 7/10 RTM RECALL – assembly and search for candidates to the final RTM release.
  • 7/10 WINDOWS 7 RTM FINAL BUILD TARGET – build day “gold code”.
  • 7/13 WINDOWS 7 RTM SIGN-OFF – the date of signing the final RTM release!

While this is great news, if it is true, I am holding off for a fresh Retail copy of Windows 7. But it does mean that we might be one step closer to the Oct. 22nd release of Windows 7.  Which is fantastic, if Microsoft puts on a great marketing plan. If they don’t get the word out about Windows 7 to the masses, and soon. It could be disastrous. Remember Vista anyone! I understand Windows 7 is not out, so how can they advertise for it. But they can and they should, as soon as possible!

Let’s get the word out to everyone. That Windows 7 is not Vista. It has better features. Easier to use, and is faster in general!  So it should be advertised as such!

Is it mean that we won't see RTM till mid of July??!!!

    Is it confirmed?

Why is there so much time between the Recall and the Build Target? I had always heard that October 22nd was Windows 7's General Availability date, and that the OS would be released in stores for users to install them selves in July or August. Is GA what you meant by "released"? From this schedule, it doesn't look like they'll be able to have it out in stores in July though August is still a possibility, right?

RTM, means that the code is final. GA means that all of the other activities are done and it is generally available through standard channels. This means - DVDs pressed, packaging done, code provided to the OEMs, on the price lists, distributors have it, etc. etc. Quite a lot to do when you think of the millions of people that will have it.
