I Am A PC. Are You?

So here we are. On the brink of Windows 7 finally hitting the market. Will it sell well? Will it sell poorly? I don’t care either way. Because I will be using Windows 7 until the beta program for Windows 8 starts up. Which should start in roughly 2 1/2 years give or take! I will probably never switch to a Mac. I am an avid Windows user. I like Windows operating systems in general. Some are better than others. Take XP over Vista; even though if you trimmed down Vista, it worked really well and in my opinion looked way better than XP. But unfortunately for Vista,  it did not work as well as Seven or XP right out of the box.

No matter how you look at it, Windows is everywhere. It has the dominant market share all over the world, and ten years from now it probably still will.  But, none of these are why I am a PC. Would you like to know why I am a PC? Well if your still reading this, then that is a yes. The reason I am a PC is because I like the way Windows operating systems function over Macs.

Now before the comment section gets blown out of the water, let me explain.  I use a Mac fairly often; my brother has three of them, so I am familiar with how they work in comparison to Windows. But, I like Windows better. There I said it. In fact, I think Windows 7 is generally better than its competition all around.

When I was using Vista I did sometimes feel like my brother had a better OS, but not anymore. Windows 7 finally made me realize that Windows is back in the game. Look around you – I have seen so much coverage of Windows 7 on the internet it is mind boggling. The vast majority of people who have tried Windows 7 like it, and I have to agree with them.

So, I am proud to say that I am a PC and I am not going anywhere, anytime soon. Now bring on Windows 8! What do you the readers think? Are you PCs or Macs? Or both?

I am a pc, they feel more "natural", plus work with pretty much all programs, i use macs at school and they feel not so "natural" lol

I'm a Mac, I've lost way too much valuable data with Windows so I feel safer both with security as well as data corruption on my Mac.
Although I do have a Windows 7 Bootcamp partition so I guess I'm both, but mostly Mac.

I'm a PC, as I develop for Windows, prefer its greater amount of applications, and love Windows 7

im a pc because they are super customizable from the color of the taskbar, to the case it rests in, and cheaper...way cheaper.
i can do anything a mac can do and have for way less. ive been using macs since 4th grade (im almost 23 now) and windows, gosh, since i was poor i didnt own a windows pc until my old ibm ps/1 a year and a half later.
so its not that i dont know jack about the competition, i just plain dont like em just as the author of this article doesn't

macs ARE now PCs ever since they switched to intel - stop spreading the myth that they are different.

    @ paul
1, because a computer is intel, that doesn't make it a'pc' if you want to go that route
2, pc stands for 'personal computer' so even before mac went intel, they were still 'pc'
3, the reason we windows people have associated windows with pc is because not only is it easier to say pc but apple has chosen to classify us as 'pc' in their ads. so the world now associates 'pc with  'windows'
4, while technically it is a 'myth' apple has chosen to ignore themselves as 'pc' and given us that label. long story short     :P

I have to disagree there. Just because the computer isn't called a PC by it's developers, doesn't change the fact that it's using an intel x86/64 processor in intel motherboards using off-the-shelf computer memory, hard didks, and graphics cards.
The difference is the TPM chip installed on the motherboard which gives Mac OS the go ahead to install. A physically identical computer system, with a monitor (although admittedly a less attractive one), keyboard, mouse, etc, will come in at least 35% cheaper than a mac based on the EXACT same hardware.
Assuming the monitor is the expensive part would be too easy, the monitors are good but not THAT good. And a monitor isn't even a core component of a computer, so I'm slightly getting off the point here. A mac IS a generic computer in a shiny case, with a higher price tag.

I'm a person actually, and see no point in the 'i'm a pc' or 'i'm a mac' label. I do use a PC, and as a technician have maintained PCs for dozens of people. But then here in the UK, macs are very few and far between anyway.
  • I honestly think that PCs are better. Now, it's not because Apple sucks, or Mac sucks, in fact I like the way the Mac works. But then I realize, Macs don't run on all of my games, which some don't have a Mac version, and all the Mac really is is just a basic operating system with tons of candy graphics. I mean, you cannot change the window color, or do much customization with the dock (as in different styles, animations, etc).*
Then in the PC, they have a lot of candy graphics too, but they actually allow you to customize it all! Plus their market share is very great. But the main reason why I like Windows, especially XP, Vista and 7, because I like how, despite the torture, harassment, etc that Microsoft gets from fan boys and Apple, they still keep going, doing their best. With Windows 7 the argument is 'it's just another Vista', but they say it as if there hasn't been any improvements. But Windows7, as we all know, is just Vista, with more features and a slightly changed interface!
We could look at Snow Leopard and say the same thing, 'it's just Leopard under the hood, there's nothing new', and they would argue that it's really faster, more safer, etc. I find it sad how people not only believe but defend their choices via what Apple and fan boys say.

*The default OS, without any modifications, such as downloads, mods, etc. Straight from the box.

what i meant was that a computer doesn't need an intel processor to be classified as a 'pc' as paul was implying
