I dont get it.. filling your HDD with crap.. gadgets\image viewer\movie maker etc does not make your coumputer any slower if you dont use them… Vlite is only usefull in you want to save HDD space or brake the OS

My sympathies go out to the guy with two OS’s (aren’t the licenses good for three machines? could be rumour..)

This is the problem with companies like MS as a whole- the greed for more money. You get roped in for the “latest & greatest” at the highest price, then *BAM* v3.next comes out and demands the same high price, without any market depreciation of the soon-to-be-out-the-door dodo version. A voucher for a new carton of eggs would be nice if the expiration date of the “spoiled” batch is reachable.. but then again, speculation says that Win7 isn’t out ’till ’round 2010.. Yeah.. I get my eggs from my own chicken (not a good analogy, but..). I also understand that we the people are at the mercy of the benevolent OS god to tell us the standard that we should adhere to, because they own the market shares.

Personally I say that if you think for yourself, then consider Open alternatives if you don’t agree with the MS gouge.. or just wait until they get the bugs out, and nobody’s buying much(like what happens to new releases) and get it in about a year after release… .. just MHO..

As we know Mac copies most of its ideas from the Linux community. Take your minimize by going to the corners for example and alt+tab style thing in the other corner on a mac, thats based on Compiz on linux. It’s free. Macs pricey. Macs dont really live up to all people think they do. It’s just like fisher price computers. Pay more for less.

But, I do like this function and think it’s pretty handy. Microsoft do need to implement more unique ideas like this, but how many are really left. At the end of the day someone will always be copying someone with features like this. I do wonder and hope saying this I don’t spark some script-kiddie to create one, but couldn’t this really get annoying if some malicious code takes over and you end up with shaking windows. lol.

I’ve played with this on XP and although a bit messy it’s really bloody handy. Now, all we need is more virtual desktops. Looking forward to the next Beta release.

Actually you have had this functionality way before this. You can runas any user you choose even in XP. I’m not sure if you knew that already. I’m guessing you are only commenting on the fact they have added a context menu entry right?!? No big deal I’d say.

Agreed, even with VLC, half the files I have don’t work. Shark’s codec pack worked wonders on my computer. If codec packs are not your thing, another option is GOM player, much better than VLC..

We could keep this crap up till hell freeze’s over and still have a difference of opinion. My reading skills are just fine thank you and you know exactly what I am referring to but you choose to have a different view of the situation than I do. That is as it should be. I don’t happen to have a few hundred dollars laying around to toss to Microsoft everytime they feel a whim to “fix” the operating system.

The NSA has already recieved advanced copies of Windows 7 Beta 1, and is currently testing them now.
I CAN tell you that this OS boots ALOT faster than vista (im talking 15 seconds from power on to desktop).
One thing that will really blow you away is the Taskbar…
I’ll leave that a surprise for the public beta release..
