Although Windows 7 looks like vista, it is a new operating system that promises to have many architectural changes that will result in better performance and a more user friendly experience than Vista.  I personally wouldn't want a whole new UI again after Vista and thats why I like the screenshots looking similar to that of Vista.  What would you want to look different?

I personally do not care that much about the look and feel of an operating system. It should be fast, efficient and highly configurable. Wait, that's Linux Wink

They better not have gas price names as the version of Windows 7, ect "Home Premium" and "Ultimate". Tongue

I suppose they will keep most of those names because customers know them already from Windows Vista. The screenshots of the Windows development builds that show Windows 7 Ultimate as the edition seem to confirm that.

More competition - damn!  Seriously, I'd start a new thread in 'General Discussion' asking how best to monetise a new website and see what happens.  Martin's a bit of an expert here so maybe ping him when you have done.

But they are just development screenshots! Who knows what they REALLY will be when w7 is released. Smiley

OMFG its vista ^^ a new operating system my arse windows vista with goodies tbfh, screenshots are pants due to the vista look! if you even stare at it for 10 secs each picture you will notice vista OS, the right click menu still clunky and bet it runs @ bad performance like vista did when realeased. Also WHY realease windows 7, i purchased windows vista ultimate x64 when it was released costing alot of money and all ive seen from my dads basic edition is a slight change! in thumbnails and shadows and ofc ^GOODIES^, now what about ultimate vista the best version blablabla * the only goodies ive received was a game called windows tinker *now what bloody twat invented that crap?* that ant a extra thats a childs game didnt know that kids could aford since a heavy priced OS (ultimatex64). TBFH windows have gone down hill FACT! standards have dropped as much well no by the release of the well awaited for windows xp service pack 3 which offered completly pants updates, even vista sp2 still in the so called waiting line of microsofts forgoten list? who know maybe if we lucky we mite receive a windows ultimate extra called the christmas game (for kids). Still the touch screen addon ant realy a progress in technology pdas have had it for years!! also windows was so excited when the have a technology breakthro , thor the dreamscene moving backgrounds (yeah right mobile fones have had it for ages, they just cant see whats in front of them) . Windows vista is a great os and many people only now flicking from xp to it! (cant wait also to see what heavy price windows will slap on this crap), windows vista just needs a serious sp2 that actuly provides the mature os owners something more benifical (and i dont mean bloody childs games like hold'em etc). Was also realy anoyed @ the windows dreamscene Favourite pack which contained 4 amni-wallpapers all the same just with a different colour. Hmm can anyone see there progress rate now?. Hell even the gamers notice how badly windows has dropped many of them are collecting in different forums deciding to make a gaming os that actuly runs and performs great. Anyways thats my opinion out, hope you enjoy the screenshots of vista cause most of them i could have made in paint lolz, just type windows 7 and edit and replace the system screen picture and wahhey every one goes buck mad!! Cool it looks grat windows 7!! lolz comeon people we shoould be telling microsoft what we want to see as there methods have went  , well quite slim. And due to the lack of updates , service packs and extras in vista editions they could do with a hand.

They'd be better off keeping it simple by just having one edition.

Mrserious, please, use paragraphs.

...

Microsoft has found it's own (, unique) style: the Aero of Vista.
It's beatiful (personal opinion), so they keep it.

That's why they keep it.
